Chicago Olympics 2016 bid poster XIV: fencer

The reflection of the poster in the bus shelter glass was rather striking. At the time of shooting, I didn't think much of the bench, but included it anyways. Now it's one of my favorite features in the photo. It has a nice physicalness to it. The setup is almost like the bench is enjoying watching the fencing in the IMAGINE poster.

Thanks to the police officer that let me take the exposures for this image. Behind the bus shelter, a movie was being filmed in Millennium Park. The officer was parked at the sidewalk to prohibit people from entering the area. The bus shelter wasn't really that close to the filming, so I asked him if I could shoot the Olympic poster at the bus stop. He said, "aw, yeah, dat's okay. Why not?" I have mixed bag reactions with officers allowing me to photograph in public. Sometimes they are rule-nazis. Sometimes they are nice guys. This was a nice guy officer who seemed to enjoy that someone was photographing Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics.

Oh, I should note that I'm not talking about the police officer that is actually in the photo (on the left). I didn't talk to him. But thanks to him too for not coming over and giving me a hard time.

Oh snap. I didn't even realize I had the Chicago bean in this photo. It's over on the right kinda hiding behind the lamps. Cool. Now I can tag this photo with Chicago bean. Look out.

About the posters:

Chicago is making a bid to host the Olympics in 2016. Posters, flags, advertisements went up in the Loop area of downtown Chicago for the International Olympic Committee visit to evaluate Chicago's venues and plans for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. The posters say, "Imagine."
