Excavator machines clear off the land where the 2000-foot tall Chicago Spire will stand. As featured in this photo, the tower will be bordered by the Chicago River on the South with the white granite Aon Center (3rd tallest building in America), Prudential 2, and gray Illinois Center on the other side of the river. The stream of water is not from the construction site, rather it's the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District's centennial fountain and water cannon. On the top of the hour at River Esplanade Park, the water cannon shoots for 10 minutes. And look! A tourist boat is going by! Toot toot!
