Christmas tree photo by spudart Christmas tree photo by spudart
A beautiful christmas tree decorated with red bows stands outside a window at the Rosebud Prime restaurant in downtown Chicago. I like how the developing brought out the blues and purples in the window, along with all the yellow lights reflecting. I purposely positioned the tree so it would be framed nicely with the curtains.

Thanks! I was really rather pleased while I was processing this photo. I wasn't quite sure that it would be so nice when I was there photographing it. It was kinda hard to get this angle, because it's in a plaza with all these planters. Hence why some of the tree got in on the upper right. But I almost like the branches that come in.

Thanks Shep! I post only my best shots on deviantart. In november, i broke my personal record for shots taken with over 3,000 photos. Out of that 3,000 I end up posting just a handful. So it's a numbers game. But there's also a sensation for what's a good shot... in terms of lighting, shadows, composition. One thing I learned is to look at how light reflects in the sidewalk. Often times, there's alot of great tonality and lighting that sidewalks get from light.

No problem~!
3,000?! That's probably more than I would take in a couple decades...
I never thought much about sidewalks...I usually just think of them as grey slabs of concrete that people step on...but photographers like you must find (and know) about things normal people or artists (I guess everyone could be if they really set their mind to it) don't really care to think about. While photographers find beauty in their world, their minds, inspiration, emotions, (and God) artists rely on other artists for the most part? Oh, wow, that was sappy and didn't relate to what you said at all...:D

But, still, i'll keep that in mind! :)
