I will be posting a new Chicago HDR image once day here. Let's kick off the series with one of my favorite images--The frozen chicago river with the Michigan Avenue bridge and Wrigley Building in the background.

How did you create this series... perhaps you can post it in a journal or something. Its so different. Almost cartoon-ish surreal colors.

It almost doesn't look like a photo! more like a drawing or a painting.

this HDR came out very interesting, almost like a painting.

Thanks! It's really amazing to see what happens on screen when the different exposures merge together. It's really like magic, and often times it's such a nice surprise to see what comes out.

I prefer "old" American architecture (those are old buildings, right? at least the one with clock tower :P) than modern and high tech.
And in this picture they look amazing with steel bridge in the foreground.

Yes, the Wrigley building is old... for chicago. It was finished in 1924. Here's some factoids about it: The building was designed by the architectural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst & White using the shape of the Giralda tower of Seville's cathedral combined with French Renaissance details. Clad in glazed terra-cotta, which remains white without regular cleaning.

You bring up an interesting point about the contrast between the old bulding and the steel bridge in the foreground. This building is right across the street from where I work everyday, so I'm always taking photos of it. The Wrigley Building with the river and the bridge is one of my favorite subject matters that I often don't really sit back and think about what they truly are. Thank you for helping me to recontextualize this building and bridge.
