Description
After taking a bunch of standard photos of Grand Central Station in New York City, I was looking for some different angles and ways of picturing the station. Off to the side in the main hall of Grand Central Station, there's a row of ticket windows with a rack underneath. I'm assuming the rack was there for business people to put his/her suitcase onto while they purchase tickets.
So I plopped my camera on this luggage rack to take some photos. Now these are long exposures, so my camera sits there for a good five minutes while I adjust things and then for the shutter to stay open. While adjusting the angle, one of the security guards drove up in his little mini car (as seen in this deviation) and asked me what I was doing. Now keep in mind that when I first walked into that station a security guard immediately came up to me and told me no tripods allowed. And then there's even army dudes walking around to make sure nobody does anything unusual.
I reply to the security guard that if he doesn't want me taking a photo of this, that's no problem (me being the peacekeeper) and that I can just shoot something else. But he said, "oh no no. I'm just curious what angle you are shooting. I've never seen anyone shoot from that angle before."
That was nice! Even the security guard was appreciating the different perspective of this photo. So I thanked him and he drove away.
After I finished my shots I walked over to his little car and showed him the two exposures on the digital back of the camera, since he expressed interest before. I figured he's gotta get bored just driving around that empty station all night long. He liked the shots.

That's great how he didn't mind you taking shots and admited the new angle. I bet it kept him awake and smiling for the rest of the night. :giggles:
